COMPETE Coalition Welcomes IRC Reports Highlighting the Value of Competitive Electricity Markets

WASHINGTON, D.C. - William Massey, former FERC Commissioner and COMPETE Spokesman, today issued the following statement in response to important new studies released by the ISO-RTO Council examining the benefits of organized competitive electricity markets:

"These studies point to what we have been saying for some time now, namely that competitive electricity markets are driving significant investment in transmission and generation, and fostering innovation in terms of demand response and renewable energy. These reports clearly show that it is past time to move beyond the false price arguments regarding competitive electricity markets and to move the discussion to where markets are providing very real and tangible benefits for consumers and the environment."
